How do I make VIN Watch™ count automatically?

VIN Watch™ counts every time you open the Tesla app, using one automation in Apple's Shortcuts app. The app walks you through it the first time, but here are the steps:

  1. Open the Shortcuts app and tap the Automation tab.
  2. Tap +, then choose App.
  3. Pick the Tesla app, select Is Opened, and choose Run Immediately.
  4. Add the VIN Watch™ action Log a Check and save.

This needs iOS 17 or later. You can always log a check by hand with the "I checked again" button or the widget.

My checks stopped counting.

Open the Shortcuts app, go to the Automation tab, and make sure the Tesla automation is still there, turned on, and set to Run Immediately. If you got a new phone or reinstalled the Tesla app, you may need to set it up again.

I don't see myself on the leaderboards.

Leaderboards use Apple Game Center. Make sure you're signed in under Settings > Game Center on your iPhone. Scores can take a few minutes to show up. To see your friends, allow VIN Watch™ to use your Game Center friends list when it asks.

Do I need an account?

No. VIN Watch™ has no sign-up. Leaderboards use the Game Center account already on your iPhone.

How do I reset or delete my data?

Your check history is stored only on your iPhone, so deleting the app deletes it. Your leaderboard scores belong to your Game Center account, which you can manage in the Settings app. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Can VIN Watch™ tell me when my car is coming?

Sadly, no. VIN Watch™ doesn't connect to Tesla and never sees your order. It only counts how often you check. For real delivery news, the Tesla app is still the place to look (which, yes, VIN Watch™ will count).

No. VIN Watch™ is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Tesla, Inc.
